What is EEO-1 data?
EEO-1 data in an employee’s profile corresponds to the Employer Information Report EEO-1, otherwise known as the EEO-1. It is diversity data collected by the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The data includes:
- Gender
- Race/Ethnicity
- Job Category
The data is visible by admins with the applicable permissions, within the employee’s profile and is also included in Census Reports.
Category Information:
For companies that utilize Justworks’ tools for collecting and reporting EEO-1 data, the applicable year’s EEO-1 information will be automatically populated into your employees’ profiles after they self-identify. This information is detailed below. Please note that these categories are established by the federal government’s requirements and other guidance. Justworks understands that identity is personal and that these options may not necessarily best represent you or your employees.

Gender:
MALE, FEMALE, NON-BINARY
Race/ Ethnic Designation:
HISPANIC OR LATINO A person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American, or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race.
WHITE (NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO) A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East or North Africa.
BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN (NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO) A person having origins in any of the black racial groups of Africa.
NATIVE HAWAIIAN OR OTHER PACIFIC ISLANDER (NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO) A person having origins in any of the peoples of Hawaii, Guam, Samoa or other Pacific Islands.
ASIAN (NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO) A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia or the Indian Subcontinent, including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand and Vietnam.
AMERICAN INDIAN OR ALASKA NATIVE (NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO) A person having origins in any of the original peoples of North and South America (including Central America) and who maintains tribal affiliation or community attachment.
TWO OR MORE RACES (NOT HISPANIC OR LATINO) All persons who identify with more than one of the above five races.
I DO NOT WISH TO DISCLOSE. Justworks note: If you choose not to disclose your race/ethnicity, your employer is still required to include such information about you in the EEO-1 Report by using existing employment records or visual observation.
