How do I add my handicapped child to insurance?
To obtain continued coverage of a handicapped child, the member must submit the two forms directly to Aetna ). One form is completed by the member, and the other form is completed by his/her physician. You can obtain these forms by reaching out to support@justworks.com or contacting your account manager directly. Aetna's Medical Director reviews each case individually and makes a determination regarding the request for continued coverage. The member will be notified of the decision in writing but can also check the status with Aetna Member Services.
Upon approval, the dependent is added to the member's policy and sent on subsequently to Aetna. The cost and billing structure match normal Justworks' policies.
Length of continuation
The continuation will cease on the earliest of the following events:
- Cessation of handicap
- Failure to give proof that the handicap continues
- Failure to have any required exam
- Termination of your dependent child coverage for a reason other than reaching the maximum age
Utilizing Health Advocate
The dependent's effective date will match the member's effective date; however, it is likely that it will take longer to process the dependent's enrollment. In this case, we strongly suggest utilizing Health Advocate to help submit the initial paperwork and any claims once the enrollment has been approved. They will be able to give step-by-step guidance and assist in the process.
