Arkansas is what's referred to as a client-reporting state for unemployment insurance. Justworks needs your company’s information to report unemployment taxes under your unemployment account. Here are the steps required:
- If you have a current unemployment account, please fill out a DWS-ARK-236 to close the account. This should be mailed to the address listed on the form. If you need assistance, please contact the Arkansas Unemployment Insurance Division at 501-682-3798.
- Complete DWS-ARK-201PEO, Leasing Employer Client Status report. You'll need to reach out to our Customer Success team in order to get a copy of the application that's pre-filled with Justworks information. Once complete, please return the form to Justworks. We will sign the form and submit it to the state, which will create a new Unemployment Account with your original Unemployment Tax Rate.
Closing your withholding account
To close your withholding account, fill out the AR-20 form in full as it relates to your business (this is attached to the paperclip). Please indicate "Withholding Wage" under "Tax Account Type" and check "Closed" in the "Reason for Closing Tax Account" box. Once completed, sign the form and mail to the address listed at the bottom.
