South Dakota is what's referred to as a client-reporting state for unemployment insurance. Justworks needs your company’s information to report unemployment taxes under your unemployment account.
In order to report, Justworks needs your South Dakota Unemployment Account number, Unemployment Tax Rate, and Power of Attorney.
If you already have an unemployment tax account in South Dakota, please send us the account number as well as your most recent unemployment tax rate. We will also need you to complete the South Dakota Power of Attorney (POA) form. Once complete, please send it back to Justworks.
We don't have a South Dakota Unemployment Account, what do we do?
If you don’t yet have an account, please register and follow the instructions from the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulations. Please note South Dakota refers to Unemployment Insurance Tax as the “Reemployment Assistance Tax.” Once your account is open, please fill out the SD POA.
- You can select "Limited POA", this is sufficient for us to file your returns on your behalf.
- In the 'Does Hereby Appoint POA' field, enter: Justworks Employment Group LLC
If you’re having trouble completing the online account setup process, please contact the state’s customer service line for assistance.
