Clocking In and Out for Employees

This article is for all employees of companies that use Justworks.

This article covers how to track time from the mobile app and how to track time from the Justworks Time Tracking website. Additionally, we will cover the process for tracking time in real time and for adding time to work previously completed.

It is important to note that your account configuration may not allow for some of these features. To request any changes to your account configuration, please contact your account administrator.

Guide: Mobile Time Tracking - Live Check-in

  1. Tap on the 'Clock In' button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select a location from the list. If your account has a geofence enabled, you will only be able to select a location from the list where the distance is shown in green. If no distances are shown in green, you are not able to check in from your present location. Click Start Shift
  3. You're now checked in for work. You can start a break (Start Break button) or clock out for the day (Clock Out button) by clicking the shift you created.
    Please note that to clock out for the day you must press and hold the clock-out button
  4. You can repeat this process as many times as needed in a day as long as the admin of the account sets the preference to do so. All entries will appear on your timesheet.

Guide: Website Time Tracking - Live Check-in

  1. Sign in to your account at hours.justworks.com
  2. From the 'Track Time' tab, click on the 'Check in to a new shift' button.
  3. Choose a location from the dropdown list.
  4. Click on 'Start'.
  5. To clock out or start a break, click on the row for the shift in the table and click on 'Start Break' or 'Check Out' in the shift details window.

Guide: Website Time Tracking- Manually Adding a New Shift

Employees can add their shifts if it is permitted by their manager. Follow the steps below to Manually Enter your shift on the website:

  1. Please sign in to Justworks Time Tracking.
  2. Click the Timesheet Tab.
  3. Click the Green Button “Add Shift for Completed Work”. If you do not see this button then you are not allowed to manually enter your shifts. You will need to consult with your manager for further instructions.
  4. Once you click that button, a new window will appear.
  5. Make sure you can select a Location. This must be done first before going further. If you do not see a list of Locations to choose from, most likely you have not been assigned to one. Please consult with your manager for further steps.
  6. After you select a location, make sure you choose the date that you would like to enter your shift. New shifts always start with the current date that you are in.
  7. If you took any breaks, please click the Breaks Tab that is in the window to create your break. Once you have completed your break please click Save.

  8. Once your break is Saved, click the Summary page to go back to the Shift Details and see that the break you have entered is recorded and calculated.
  9. If you have the same shift along multiple days you can click the “Copy this shift to additional days” to add the same shift to days other than the day you are currently on. Once you click the link a calendar will appear for you to select multiple days.
  10. Once all information has been entered and everything looks good. Please click the Save button so it can Save your shift and bring you back to the Timesheet page.

Guide: Mobile Time Tracking- Manually Adding a New Shift

  1. Please sign in to Justworks Time Tracking
  2. Click the Timesheet Tab
  3. Click the Green Button “+ sign”. If you do not see this button then you are not allowed to manually enter your own shifts and you will need to consult with your manager for further instructions.
  4. Once you click that button, you will be directed to a different page. In that new page, you will make sure you are able to select a Location. This must be done first before going further. If you do not see a list of Locations to choose from, most likely you have not been assigned to one. Please consult with your manager for further steps.
  5. Once you have entered all the necessary information, please click the Save button in the upper right corner. Once you click Save it will take you back to the Timesheet page displaying the shift you have just entered.
