Common Questions (Master Policy plans)

When do employees select health insurance plans?

Employee Open Enrollment (or plan selection) will run from 9/17/26 - 9/28/26. Those elections will become effective on 11/1/26. You will still need to complete employee plan selection, even if you intend to choose the same plans you were enrolled in this year.

Employees will have until 11:59 PM ET on 9/28/26 to complete their plan selection.

If I do not enroll in health insurance now, when is my next opportunity to enroll?

If you are currently enrolled in an active health insurance plan and do not take action during open enrollment, your current plan will automatically renew. If you do not currently have an active health insurance plan, however, your opportunities to enroll in a new plan are annual during open enrollment or if you experience a qualifying life event (QLE) at any point during the year.

I’m currently enrolled in health insurance. Do I still need to select a plan during open enrollment?

Employees who are currently enrolled in health insurance will be auto-enrolled into the same plans and coverage tier as long as your employer offers that same plan in the new plan year. If your employer removes the plan, you will be enrolled in the most affordable available plan offered. However, it is possible that the cost or coverage details of your current plan may change, so it is recommended that you actively review and confirm your plans, coverage tier, and dependents during open enrollment.

When does my new plan start?

Where can I viewing plan options, premiums, and compare coverage in Justworks?

Where to find premiums and plan details

Log into Justworks and go to Benefits > Health Insurance to view the plans you’re eligible for and the premiums you would pay by tier (Employee Only, Employee + Spouse, Employee + Kids, Family). If you don’t see premiums in your plan summaries, ask your company admin with benefits permissions for your current pricing. Admins can download plan summaries with cost details.

Review SBCs (Summaries of Benefits and Coverage) for each plan inside Justworks. SBCs outline copays, deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums, network rules, and pharmacy plan names.

Pharmacy coverage/formulary for Aetna

The simplest way to confirm whether a medication is covered is to log into your Aetna member portal and search the formulary for your exact plan.

The plan’s SBC lists the pharmacy plan name you’ll use when searching.

Getting help choosing a plan

Health Advocate can help you compare networks, doctors, and costs to select a plan that fits your situation and location.

Why you might see limited plan options

  • Geographic compliance: Our platform only shows plans you’re eligible for based on your home ZIP code and plan rules. Some states or regions have limited plan types mid-year.
  • Network reach: In some areas, POS networks aren’t robust enough to meet coverage requirements, so you’ll only see PPO options.
  • Out-of-area labels: Plans may display state tags (e.g., “(TX)”). If you live outside the primary service area, choose a non-HMO (PPO) option to ensure out-of-area coverage.
  • Plan naming (e.g., “OAMC”): These labels reflect carrier/network design. You don’t have to choose a plan solely because it has a specific acronym; choose the plan whose network and benefits meet your location and needs.

Dependent coverage costs

Premiums vary by tier. Your company’s contribution policy determines how much you owe for each tier. If you need a breakdown, ask your admin for your plan’s tier pricing.
