New Jersey’s Temporary Disability Insurance and Family Leave Insurance programs are partial wage-replacement insurance plans for New Jersey workers. These benefit programs are state-mandated and funded through employee payroll deductions and employer contributions.

Temporary Disability Insurance

Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI) provides partial wage replacement benefits to eligible New Jersey workers who are unable to work due to pregnancy or a non-work-related illness, or injury. Employees must fulfill a 7-day waiting period before payments begin.

Family Leave Insurance

Family Leave Insurance (FLI) provides up to 12 weeks of partial pay to eligible New Jersey employees who need to take time off work to care for a seriously ill family member (child, parent, parent-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, spouse, or registered domestic partner) or need time to bond with a new child entering their life by birth, adoption, or foster care placement

Filing a Claim

In New Jersey, claims for family leave insurance (FLI) and temporary disability insurance (TDI) should be filed directly with the state’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DLWD). Employees of Justworks customers should use the following details for their employer of record information:

Requests for employer information will come directly to Justworks and we will reach out to the customer for details when necessary. Employees can also file a claim online here for TDI and here for FLI.
