Justworks makes this process easier through our partnership with Mineral, a powerful HR platform available to all customers with HR admin permissions.
This guide will walk you through how to get started with your handbook, what tools are available to help, and best practices to keep in mind along the way.
Accessing the Employee Handbook Builder
Justworks partners with Mineral to give you access to a dynamic Employee Handbook Builder, also known as the "Living Handbook."
If you’re a Justworks PEO customer with any level of HR admin permissions, you can access Mineral through your Justworks dashboard:
- Go to HR > Resources > Visit Mineral.
- You’ll be logged in automatically—no additional password or account setup required!
Note: You must have completed onboarding (CSA signed and admin setup complete) to access Mineral.
What the Handbook Builder Can Do
The Employee Handbook Builder in Mineral offers a robust set of tools to help you quickly create, customize, and manage your handbook over time. It includes:

Pre-written policy templates categorized by:
- Required policies
- Best practices
- Optional, based on your organization type or location
- Multi-state support, including automatic policy inclusion based on your employee locations
- Customization options so you can update language to match your company’s voice (e.g., “employees” vs. “team members”)
- Spanish translation for greater accessibility
- Dynamic updates: You’ll receive prompts to review and approve changes when laws or employee counts change
This tool is designed to keep your handbook compliant and up-to-date automatically.

- Smart Handbook Plus: Helps you build and update your handbook over time with automated prompts based on legal and workforce changes
