Advisor Dashboard: Referring Clients

This article is about Justworks PEO and Payroll. What product am I using?

If you’re an accountant using Advisor Dashboard, you can easily refer clients to Justworks — either for Justworks Payroll or Justworks PEO. This guide walks you through both referral paths.

Getting Started: Add a New Client

To begin a referral, you can log into your Advisor Dashboard and complete these steps:

  1. Click Add new client at the top right of the homepage.

  1. Select “My client does not have a Justworks account.”
  2. Choose whether to refer the client to:
    • Justworks Payroll, or
    • Justworks PEO

If You Select: Justworks Payroll

You'll be directed to a short intake form where you'll enter basic business details about your client:

  • Legal entity name
  • EIN
  • Tax classification
  • Headquarters address
     



 

What Happens Next

  • A Payroll company profile is created in Justworks.
  • The client will appear in your dashboard under:
    Clients > Payroll > Enrolling

Note: Enrolling companies do not count toward your firm's total client count shown on your dashboard homepage.

What Your Client Will See

Once the referral is submitted, your client receives an email to complete onboarding through their Justworks Payroll account.

Set Expectations Early

While many accountants assist with onboarding, keep in mind there are two steps that must be completed by a company representative (not the accountant):

  • ID Verification for the company signatory
  • Signing the Power of Attorney (POA) via DocuSign

Let your clients know this in advance to avoid delays during setup.

If You Select: Justworks PEO

When you choose to refer a client to Justworks PEO, you’ll be redirected to the Justworks Partner Referral Portal.

Requirements to Use the Portal

To proceed with a PEO referral:

  • You must be an approved Justworks Partner with access to the portal.
  • If you’re not yet a partner, you can request access directly from the portal landing page. Learn more about how to refer a small business to Justworks.
